The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, or just BOTW 2, has to be one of the most hyped games on the horizon. The latest spoiler seems to explain what Ganondorf was up to during the previous game, and how he’ll return in BotW 2.

French computer and gaming retailer World Trade & Technologies (WT&T) has allegedly leaked the fact that there will be a BotW 2 Collector's Edition, and part of the leak includes the European price tag of 82.85 euros. However, we’ve seen no shortage of interesting speculation on everything from how BOTW 2 will play to when it will launch. Grubb, on the other hand, stated in a tweet that he believes it'll take place "between [August 18] and the middle of September." If you watched the Breath of the Wild 2 trailer even once (or 100 times, we won’t judge) you probably recognize those green symbols swirling in the air around the dried up skeleton of what we’re pretty sure is Ganondorf.

He'll play just about anything going, though RPGs and the smallest of indies hold a special place in his heart. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 trailer is just 82 seconds long and there's no dialogue whatsoever but there are some clues to be gathered from it. A sequel to Nintendo’s 2017 megahit, it was first announced back at E3 2019, where a short trailer showed off the events following Link’s climactic battle with Calamity Ganon. The unnerving tune featured throughout sets the mood and builds to a climax with what seems to be the return of Ganondorf. BOTW 2 would be the perfect way to launch a Switch Pro of sorts, but, as of right now, nothing has been confirmed. After more than a year of silence, Nintendo might soon have some news to share about the upcoming release of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2. Hyrule Castle being lifted from the earth is an appropriately epic image to close on, and it’s then followed by the message, “The sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is now in development.”. Series producer Eiji Aonuma said, “In order to make the vast world you enjoyed exploring in the original game even more impressive, the team is working hard on its development, so you’ll have to wait a bit longer before we can provide more updates”.

Next year is the Zelda series’ 35th anniversary, so it would be the perfect time for Nintendo to release a remaster of one of Link’s earlier adventures or even BOTW 2 itself. We’ve also seen an unprecedented number of game delays in 2020, and it could well be the case that BOTW 2’s development has been slowed by the ongoing pandemic. An update about Nintendo's anticipated game could be right around the corner. The cryptic BotW 2 trailer that debuted at E3 2019 was the first and only thing Nintendo revealed about Link's next open-world adventure.

Does this mean that BOTW 2 could launch in the next 12 months or so? Breath of the Wild 2 may explore how this fits into the version of the Gerudo we saw in the previous game, and maybe correct the whole patriarchy thing too. Assuming this is correct (and not just fans overthinking a minute-long trailer), it could have huge ramifications for Breath of the Wild 2. If Ganondorf was able to cause all that damage in the original Breath of the Wild while his body was sealed underground, just imagine what he’ll be able to to now that he’s been freed. The Inverse Analysis — VentureBeat reporter Jeff Grubb and trusted Resetera leaker NateDrake dropped juicy hints about Nintendo's next big showcase only days apart from each other in the middle of August, collectively hinting that Nintendo might be planning some kind of major presentation in late-August or early-September.

That turned out to be true when the RPG was announced for the hybrid console eight months later, which lends some measure of credibility to this new leak while further suggesting that a BotW 2 update could be just around the corner. Given that 2020 is coming to a close, and the fact that Nintendo is yet to provide a major update beyond the 2019 trailer, a 2021 launch might even be wishful thinking. The tone of BOTW 2’s first trailer is decidedly darker than really anything you might remember from its predecessor. It … So, without further ado, here is the first trailer for BOTW 2: For now, BOTW 2’s release date remains unclear.

Well, it’s impossible to say one way or the other, especially given how many game delays we’ve already seen throughout 2020.
